International leadership
Dr. Michael Grosspietsch, PhD (Executive Director, Germany)
Michael, a German national, has gained expertise in the areas of responsible tourism, development politics and sustainable development through 7 years of professional experience, diverse academic studies and travels to more than 55 countries. He is the mastermind behind the strategies and visions of the entire Eos Visions network of social enterprises that now spreads across a variety of east, central and southern African countries, and he leads the various research & development and marketing & sales teams. His university background is in Law (Münster, Paris), International Relations (Toulouse), Responsible Tourism Management (London) and Pro-poor Tourism (Münster), and his Ph.D. thesis dealt with maximizing tourism's contribution to poverty reduction in Rwanda.

Michael Hartmann (Director of Operations, Germany)
Michael, a German national, obtained a Diploma in Business Administration from Münster, Germany. Responsible for a staff of 30, he gained several years of experience at UPS Germany, working on the optimization of processes for this leading logistics company. In 2008, he decided to make a career change and to become involved in the growing network of Eos Visions where he is currently directing the overall operations. Among others, he develops and optimizes team structures and systems, and advises and trains the staff members on the ground in all Eos Visions countries. He has visited more than 30 countries and benefits from his strong desire to optimize processes and an insatiable curiosity.

Carmen Nibigira (Country Manager, Kenya)
Born in Burundi, Carmen has spent much of her adult life in the UK and, thereby, gained vast professional experience in the hospitality and tourism industry. Among others, she worked as Assistant Sales Manager and Conference Coordinator for several top hotels in the UK, and as Senior Travel Advisor for Africa and Asia at the British headquarter of TUI, the biggest tourism company in the world. She holds a degree in International Travel Management (Brighton) and a Master's in Tourism Destination Management (Birmingham). During her time in the UK, she initiated and managed an awareness campaign on the role of tourism in sustainable development in the post-conflict situation of her home country, culminating in the official national launch of Burundi Tourism in 2008. Since her return to the region, she actively pursued the objective of turning tourism into a sustainable economic sector in Burundi and now signs responsible for our operations in Kenya.

Cecile Umuhoza (Operations Manager, Rwanda)
Cecile grew up in Gisenyi and later followed the scientific option at the respected Lycee Amani in Goma, DR Congo. Studying at the National University of Rwanda in Butare, she obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a dissertation on mountain gorilla conservation. Before joining Eos Visions Rwanda, she worked with ACNR (Association pour la Conservation de la Nature au Rwanda) as a volunteer, being an active member since 2006, and with tour operator New Dawn Associates, a former member of the Eos Visions network. She has also been active in the Rotaract Club in Butare since 2004, conducting fundraising activities and assisting vulnerable inpatients at Butare Health Center as well as primary school students. Her main interests lie in areas that are rich in biodiversity as well as the surrounding populations that use these areas as a resource of revenue for sustainable development.

Susanne N. Munandi Green (Marketing & Sales Advisor, North America)
Susanne, a Kenyan national who lives in California, is responsible for the network's marketing & sales activities in North America, Africa and Oceania. She holds a Diploma in Marketing Management from the Kenya Institute of Management (Nairobi) as well as an advanced certificate in F&B sales and service from Kenya Utalii College (Nairobi). She has vast professional experience in the hospitality and tourism industries and worked as Assistant Sales and Marketing Manager as well as Restaurant Manager at the world-famous Carnivore Restaurant in Nairobi, one of the two best restaurants in Africa, and as Business Services Manager at the tour operator New Dawn Associates in Rwanda. Her greatest strength and passion is in managing and coordinating events, and in customer service management.

Nina Dohr (Marketing & Sales Advisor, Europe)
Nina, a German national, is instrumental in the marketing and sales work of the Eos Visions network in Europe. Responsible tourism became her passion when she worked as a social volunteer in Nepal. She was unhappy about the unsustainable use of volunteer programs around the world, and this became a major field of interest during her studies in Geography and Political Science (Münster, Lyon) as well as her work for Germany-based NGO "Sustainable Development through Tourism". She deepened her practical experiences with the former Eos Visions member New Dawn Associates in Rwanda and is now at the forefront of the developments related to sustainable volunteer programs. Usually based in Germany, she represents the Eos Visions network at Europe's major international tourism fairs such as the WTM (London) or the ITB (Berlin).

Heidrun Simm (Research & Development Advisor, Germany)
Heidrun, a German national, spent the past 12 years in the Philippines, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. She worked as a consultant for several projects of the German Development Service (DED), partly in collaboration with the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), and, later, ran the Congo Programs of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International as the Country Director. Holding a German Diploma in Geography (Regensburg), she became an international expert on issues related to sustainable resource management, conservation, the creation and management of protected areas, GIS / GPS / mapping, and the support of development projects for local communities.
